Read right under the notch, above every app

Turn on Eye contact and only the lines you’re reading show, in a narrow black island that hangs from the notch, right under the webcam. With the camera picture off, the island is its own small window that stays on top of Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Keynote or your recording software, on every desktop. The EasyPrompter window becomes its control panel.

Clicks go through the island to the app underneath.
Kept out of screen sharing where macOS allows it: the app asks macOS to keep the island out of screen sharing and recordings. Check once with a test share.
Island width from 240 to 800 px, 360 to start, so each line is only a few words.
No notch? It hangs from the top centre of the screen.
Play, pause and change the speed from the keyboard, without leaving your call.
Record yourself Pro: press Start camera (⇧⌘↩), then Record or R. The script stays out of the video, and you save the take to Photos or share it.

Prefer a window? Make the prompter window narrow, put it at the top of the screen under the webcam and move the reading line up. The lines wrap to the window, the trackpad or mouse wheel moves the text, and the display doesn’t sleep while you read.

Questions about the Mac teleprompter app

Is there a free teleprompter app for Mac?

Yes. EasyPrompter is free to download for Mac, and the full teleprompter is free with no account: every speed, font, color and mirror setting, the countdown, loop and keyboard control. The free app holds one script at a time and forgets it when you quit. Pro saves and syncs your scripts and adds the editor, the AI writer, remote control and practice links.

Can I read a teleprompter on my Mac while I’m on Zoom, Teams or Meet?

Yes. Turn on Eye contact: with the camera picture off, the lines you’re reading sit in a small island under the notch, on top of Zoom, Teams or Meet, and clicks go through it. The app asks macOS to keep the island out of screen sharing; where macOS allows it, people on the call don’t see it, so check once with a test share. Or make the EasyPrompter window narrow, put it at the top of the screen right under the webcam, and move the reading line up. See our teleprompter for Zoom guide.

Can I show the prompter on a second monitor?

Yes. Drag the prompter window to the other monitor and make it full screen with the green window button or ⌃⌘F. Keep the editor on your Mac, or drive the prompter from your iPhone.

What’s the difference between the Mac app and the web app?

They read the same scripts and do the same things. The Mac app adds the menu bar and Mac shortcuts such as ⌘N and ⌘[, keeps the display awake while you read, and opens without a browser. The web app runs in any browser, on Windows and Chromebook too.

Does the Mac app work with my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. It’s one app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and Pro belongs to your account, so one purchase covers all three and the web. Your scripts sync, and with Pro any of them can be the remote for another.
