The EasyPrompter user guide

Everything EasyPrompter does, step by step: writing scripts, every prompter setting, remotes and keyboard shortcuts, installing the app, accounts, Pro, and fixes for common problems.

By the EasyPrompter team at Dynamic DigitalUpdated 21 min read

EasyPrompter is a teleprompter that runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to download, and the whole prompter works without an account. This online teleprompter tutorial walks through every screen and setting, so you can use it as a reference or read it start to finish. If you're new to prompting in general, the beginner's guide to using a teleprompter covers technique; this page covers the app.

Getting started in one minute

Here is the shortest path from opening EasyPrompter to reading your first script on camera.

  1. Open the EasyPrompter teleprompter in any modern browser. The first time, you'll see a short sample script that explains the basics.
  2. Replace the sample with your own text: type it, or paste it from wherever you wrote it (long-press the box and choose Paste, or Ctrl+V).
  3. Check the reading time and word count in the bottom-right corner of the text box.
  4. Press Start prompter. The speed, text size, colors and mirroring are set in the prompter itself, with the steppers and the quick settings button, so you see the effect straight away.
  5. Tap the text or the play button. After a 3-2-1 countdown the text starts to scroll past the amber reading line.
  6. Tap the text to pause and again to carry on. Press the pencil button (back to script) when you're done.

Put your phone or tablet as close to the camera lens as you can and keep the reading line near the top of the screen, so your eyes stay close to the lens while you read. Filming with the same device? Press Start camera instead, and the lines you read sit in a narrow island right under the lens.

Open the free teleprompter

Writing, pasting and managing scripts

The first screen is the editor: a large text box with a formatting toolbar, a row of buttons under it and the script's name at the top.

On a computer or a wide screen (about 1080 pixels or more), the editor uses three columns: your scripts on the left, the text box in the middle, and the tools on the right: Start prompter, Preview, Write with AI, Remote control, Share for practice and Delete script. On phones and tablets everything sits in one column, with Preview and Start in the bottom bar. The editor is for the words: the prompter's look (speed, size, font, colors, mirror) is set in the prompter, where you see it.

Write or paste a script

  • Type straight into the box. Blank lines become blank lines on the prompter, which makes them handy as breathing points.
  • Paste as you would anywhere else: long-press (or right-click) the box and choose Paste, or press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). Text from Word or Google Docs is cleaned up as it comes in.
  • The reading time and word count sit in the bottom-right corner of the text box, for example "1:17 · 180 words · 140 wpm". The time is worked out from your scroll speed, so it changes when you change the speed in the prompter.
  • To start again, press the × in the top-right corner of the text box. It turns red and asks Tap again to clear, so a stray tap never empties your script.

The first line of a script is used as its name in the scripts list, so a short title line at the top keeps things tidy. With Pro, you can type a name in the Title (optional) field above the text instead. For tips on writing text that is easy to read aloud, see how to write a teleprompter script.

Formatting your script (Pro)

With Pro, the editor has a formatting toolbar, so you can mark up your script the way you'd mark up a printed one:

  • Bold, italic and underline, for the words you want to stress.
  • Text color, with six colors, for cues, names or a change of speaker.
  • Bullet and numbered lists, for talking points and steps.
  • Clear formatting, which turns text back to plain in one tap.

When you paste from Word or Google Docs, EasyPrompter keeps bold, italic and lists and drops stray fonts, sizes and colors, so the text follows your prompter settings. The formatting and colors show in the prompter while you read.

On the free plan you can see the toolbar, but it's locked. Go Pro to use it.

Work with several scripts (Pro)

With Pro, you can keep as many scripts as you like side by side, for example one per video, slide or segment. The free teleprompter holds one script at a time.

All your scripts are in the scripts list. On a computer it's the column on the left of the editor. On a phone or tablet, tap the script's name at the top of the editor (it has a small down arrow) to open it. Each script shows its name, its first line of text, its number in the running order and its word count and reading time. The script you're editing is highlighted.

  • Open a script by tapping or clicking it.
  • New adds an empty script. If you already have an empty one, EasyPrompter takes you to it instead, so blank scripts don't pile up.
  • Search appears once you have four or more scripts. It looks through each script's full text, not just the name. Press Enter to open the first match.
  • The ⋯ button on each script opens its actions: Open, Duplicate, Move up, Move down and Delete. Duplicate is handy for a second take or a shorter cut of the same script.
  • Reorder scripts with Move up and Move down, or on a computer by dragging them in the list. The order is your running order: the prompter's previous and next script buttons follow it.

On a phone you can also use the left and right arrows next to the script's name to step through your scripts. On the last script, the right arrow turns into New.

Clear empties the current script and Delete script removes it completely. Delete only appears when you have two or more scripts. Clear, Delete script and Delete in the ⋯ menu all ask you to tap a second time to confirm, so a stray tap won't wipe your work.

Preview a script

Preview (in the bottom bar, or the right sidebar on a computer) opens a clean, full-screen read-through: no controls, no reading line and never mirrored, so you can read your text the way it will sound before you record. It doesn't scroll on its own; drag the text (or use ↑ and ↓) to read on.

  • With Pro, swipe left or right, or tap the left or right edge of the screen, to move to the previous or next script.
  • Tap the middle to show the script's name, dots for your scripts and a close button.
  • On a keyboard, Esc closes Preview.

Saving your scripts

The free teleprompter doesn't save your script. It lives only in the open page and is gone when you leave or close it, so your browser warns you before you close or leave the page with unsaved text. Keep a copy of anything you want to use again.

With Pro, your scripts are saved to your account and synced automatically across your phone, tablet and computer.

The AI script writer (Pro)

The AI script writer drafts a teleprompter script from a short description. It is part of EasyPrompter Pro; the teleprompter itself stays free. For examples of what it can write, see the AI script writer page.

  1. In the editor, press Write with AI. If you don't have Pro, EasyPrompter shows the Pro options instead.
  2. Under What is it about?, describe the topic in your own words. Specific details help: names, numbers, dates, the one thing viewers should remember.
  3. Choose a Length: 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min or 5 min. EasyPrompter shows the matching word count at your current scroll speed (for example "≈ 140 words at 140 wpm"), so the script fits the time when you read it at that speed.
  4. Pick a Tone: Friendly, Professional, Energetic, Calm, Funny, Inspiring or Persuasive.
  5. Pick a Format: Social video, YouTube video, Presentation, Sales pitch, Speech or Announcement.
  6. Choose a Language. "Same as what I typed" (the default) matches the language of your description. You can also pick English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.
  7. Press Write script. Writing takes a few seconds.

The result is added as a new script, so nothing you wrote is replaced. (If the script on screen is empty, the AI fills that one.) Read it through and edit it before you record: AI can get facts wrong.

Pro includes a generous daily fair-use limit for AI writing, which is plenty for normal use. Prices and plan details are on the pricing page.

Using the prompter

Press Start prompter in the editor's bottom bar, or at the top of the right sidebar on a computer (on narrow screens it just says Start). EasyPrompter switches to full screen where the browser allows it, keeps the screen awake, and shows your script on the background color you chose.

Play, pause and move the text

  • Tap the text (or the play button) to start. If the 3-2-1 countdown is on, it counts down first.
  • Tap again to pause. While the text is rolling, the controls hide so nothing covers your script. Your first tap then brings the controls back, and a second tap pauses.
  • Drag the text up or down with your finger to move it by hand, for example to go back a line you stumbled on. With a mouse or trackpad, scrolling does the same.
  • The amber reading line marks where your eyes should be. Keep the line you're speaking on it.
  • The thin progress bar at the top shows how far through the script you are.
  • At the end, the text stops when the last line reaches the reading line and EasyPrompter shows "End of script". With Loop at the end on, it jumps back to the top and keeps going.

The control bar

The bar at the bottom of the prompter has two rows. The top row holds a speed stepper (turtle for slower, rabbit for faster, 10 words per minute per tap), a text size stepper (small and large A, 4 px per tap) and the quick settings button. The bottom row has, from left to right:

Next scriptWith Pro, loads the next script, skipping empty ones.
LoopTurns looping at the end on or off.

When you press play, the bar slides away. Touch the screen and it comes back for a few seconds.

The quick menu

The quick settings button opens a camera-style strip so you can adjust the look without leaving the prompter: Font, Colors, Mirror, Flip, Layout (line spacing, side margins and reading line position), Line (reading line on or off), Countdown, Center, Caps and All, which opens the full settings. It also holds the Eye contact and Camera panels (see eye contact, camera and recording). While you drag a slider during prompting, the rest of the panel fades so you can see the effect on your text.

The screen stays on while the prompter is open, in browsers that support a screen wake lock. If you switch to another app or tab, scrolling pauses so you don't lose your place.

Every prompter setting

Open the settings in the prompter: press the quick settings button, then All at the end of the strip. Changes apply straight away, behind the panel, and your browser remembers them for next time.

Scroll speed is set in words per minute, so it means the same thing whatever your font size or screen. Most people speak comfortably somewhere around 130 to 160 words per minute; start at the default and adjust during a practice read. Our guide to teleprompter reading speed goes deeper. While prompting, the speed stepper and the ↑ ↓ keys change it in steps of 10.

Font size should be large enough to read without squinting from where you'll sit.

Typeface: Atkinson Hyperlegible is designed so similar letters are easy to tell apart, which is why it's the default and labeled "easiest to read". Roboto Condensed fits more words per line. DM Sans and Source Serif are clean alternatives, JetBrains Mono is a monospaced font, and System font uses your device's own.

Background and text color: tap a preset swatch or the last swatch to pick any color. Light text on a dark background is easiest on the eyes and reflects best in beam-splitter glass. Yellow on black is a classic high-contrast choice.

Mirror left/right reverses the text for a beam-splitter rig; Flip upside down turns it over for rigs that need it. See mirroring below.

Reading line shows or hides the amber guide, and Reading line position moves it. Placing it high, near the camera, keeps your gaze close to the lens.

3-2-1 countdown gives you a moment to settle before the text moves. Loop at the end restarts the script automatically, which is useful for rehearsals. Center text centers each line, and ALL CAPS shows everything in capitals, which some presenters prefer at a distance.

Line spacing adds room between lines so your eyes don't jump to the wrong one. Side margins narrow the text column, which helps keep your eye movement small when the screen is wide or close to the lens.

Mirroring for beam-splitter rigs

A beam-splitter teleprompter places a sheet of angled glass in front of the camera lens. Your phone or tablet lies underneath, and the glass reflects the screen toward you, which flips the text back to front. Turn on Mirror left/right and the reflection reads normally. Some rigs also need Flip upside down, depending on how the screen sits.

You can toggle mirroring from the settings, from Mirror and Flip in the quick menu, or with the M key. When the text is flipped, dragging follows the flipped text, so it still moves the way you expect. Preview is never mirrored. For rig setup and glass tips, read teleprompter mirror mode and beam splitters.

Eye contact, camera and recording

EasyPrompter can put the lines you're reading right under your camera, show the camera picture behind your script and, with Pro, record you while the text scrolls. It works in the browser and in the apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. For an overview, see the teleprompter with camera and eye contact page.

Turn on eye contact

Open the quick menu in the prompter and choose Eye contact. Only the lines you're reading show, two at a time, white on black, in a narrow island that grows out of the camera:

  • iPhone: under the Dynamic Island, or beside it when the phone lies on its side.
  • iPad: hanging from the top edge, under the camera.
  • MacBook: hanging from the notch.
  • Any browser: at the top of the window, by your webcam. A Mac browser in full screen finds the notch by itself.

Island width, in the same Eye contact panel, goes from 240 to 800 px. It starts at 360 px, so each line holds only a few words and your eyes hardly move. The text size works as usual.

Start camera

Press Start camera, next to Start prompter, or ⇧⌘↩ on a keyboard. It opens the prompter with the front camera and eye contact both on, in one press.

The picture fills the screen behind your script, so you can check your framing and light. Behind the script, the background color dims the picture so the words stay easy to read, unless the island is on. The picture is mirrored, the way you see yourself in a mirror, and the camera only runs while the prompter is open.

Record a take (Pro)

While the camera is on, a red Record button sits in the top-left corner. Press it, or R:

  1. The countdown runs, then the recording and the scrolling start together.
  2. While you record, the button reads Stop with the time. Pause and play only move the text: the recording keeps going until you press Stop.
  3. Press Stop (or R), watch the take, then save it, share it, or delete it and go again.

The video is the camera picture with your sound only: the island, the reading line and the buttons aren't in it. Takes aren't mirrored, so text on your shirt or behind you reads the right way. Your device asks for the microphone the first time you record. A remote can't start a recording yet, so start it on the device that films you.

Saving your takes

A take stays on your device until you choose where it goes. Nothing is uploaded unless you press Save to my videos.

  • iPhone, iPad and Mac app: save the take to Photos, or share it to another app.
  • Phones and tablets in the browser: save or share it from the share sheet.
  • Computers in the browser: it downloads as an MP4 or WebM file.
  • Your videos (Pro): press Save to my videos after the take, on the web or in the iPhone, iPad and Mac app, to keep it in your account, with 10 GB for takes and files, ready for the video editor on any computer. Open Your videos from the tools next to your script to download, rename or delete files, or to add others with Add files (in the apps, from Photos or Files).

The island above every app (Mac app)

In the Mac app, with the camera picture off, the island becomes its own small window hanging from the notch, or from the top center of a screen without one. It stays above every other app, such as Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or Keynote, on every desktop, and clicks go through it to the app underneath. The EasyPrompter window becomes its control panel.

The app asks macOS to keep the island out of screen sharing and recordings. Where macOS allows it, people on the call don't see it, but share your screen once in a test call to check on your Mac. For call setups, see the teleprompter for Zoom guide.

The video editor (Pro)

The video editor, in beta, turns your takes into a finished video, in the web app on a computer. For an overview, see the video editor page.

  1. Save your takes to Your videos (see above), or add clips with Add files.
  2. Press Video editor in the tools next to your script. It opens in a new tab: start from a take, or a new video in Horizontal, Vertical or Square. Chrome or Edge works best.
  3. Add your takes to the Main video track, and pictures, music and sounds to the B-roll, Music and Sound effects tracks, with the buttons under each file in Your videos.
  4. Select a clip to split or trim it, and to set its crop, color and sound in the Transform, Color and Audio tabs. Titles are in the Text tab.
  5. Press Export for an MP4. It downloads, and Save to my videos keeps a copy in your account.

Projects are kept in the browser, on the computer you edit on. The AI Generate tab makes music, sound effects and B-roll, paid with credits: 900 for €9 or 10,000 for €99. Step by step, with pictures: how to edit a talking-head video and how to add B-roll, music and sound effects.

Remotes and keyboard shortcuts

EasyPrompter responds to keys, so you can drive it from a keyboard, a Bluetooth keyboard or a presentation clicker. Shortcuts work while the prompter or Preview is open. In the editor, keys type into your script as normal. With Pro you can also control the prompter from another device, such as your computer.

In the editor, ⇧⌘↩ is Start camera: the prompter opens with the camera and eye contact on.

While the settings panel is open, shortcuts pause; Esc closes the panel first.

How paragraph jumps work. Forward goes to the start of the next paragraph. Back goes to the start of the paragraph you're reading, and a second press goes to the one before, so a retake always starts at the right place. The text slides there so your eyes can follow. When a script has empty lines between sections, each section counts as one paragraph; otherwise every line does.

Pair a Bluetooth remote, clicker or foot pedal

Any Bluetooth keyboard, remote or presentation clicker that your phone or computer sees as a keyboard will work. The exact steps depend on the device, but the pattern is the same:

  1. Put the remote in pairing mode (usually by holding its power or pairing button until a light blinks; check its manual).
  2. On your phone, tablet or computer, open the Bluetooth settings and pick the remote from the list of nearby devices.
  3. Open EasyPrompter and start the prompter.
  4. Tap the screen once so the page has focus, then press a button on the remote to test it.

Most presentation clickers send Page Up and Page Down, or the left and right arrow keys, so their two main buttons move to the previous or next paragraph. If your clicker has a button that sends Space or Enter, that one plays and pauses. Remotes that only send media or volume keys won't control EasyPrompter.

Foot pedals work the same way, and keep both hands free while you present. Use a USB or Bluetooth page-turner pedal that types keys (most have a keyboard mode), and set it to send Space to play and pause, or Page Down and Page Up to move paragraph by paragraph. A USB pedal needs a computer, or a phone or tablet that accepts USB accessories. Pedals that only control music apps won't work.

Control the prompter from another device (Pro)

With Pro, a second device can be the remote for the prompter: any phone that scans a QR code, or another device signed in to your account. The remote shows the progress, the paragraph you're on and the time left. More on the remote control page.

With a QR code (any phone, no sign-in).

  1. On the device that will show the prompter, signed in with Pro, press Remote control. A QR code appears at the top (on a phone, press Show a QR code for a phone remote).
  2. Scan it with any phone's camera. The remote opens in its browser, with no app and no account.
  3. Press Start prompter on …. The prompter opens the script that's in that device's editor.

The code works for up to 12 hours on that screen and survives a reload, so the phone reconnects by itself. New code makes a fresh one and the old one stops working, and so does disconnecting the phone with the × on the Remote connected card. A QR remote steers the prompter and sees its paragraphs, but it can't open your other scripts or change the text. Copy link gives you the same remote as a link, to send to a phone instead.

With your signed-in devices. Open EasyPrompter on both and sign in with the same Pro account. On the device you'll control it from, press Remote control and choose the other device from the list, for example "iPhone · Safari — Ready". Pick a script and press Start prompter on …: the script opens in the prompter on the other device.

What the remote can do. The remote uses the prompter's own toolbar: speed and text size steppers, the quick settings (mirror, flip, reading line, countdown, center, caps), and Edit, back to top, previous script, play and pause, next script and loop. Under it, ‹ Paragraph 3 of 12 › moves between paragraphs, and the list below lets you tap any paragraph to go there. Tap the progress bar to jump to any point, and Close the prompter when you're done.

Fixing the script while it runs (signed-in remote). Edit the script on the remote and press Save & sync: the prompter shows the new words and keeps its place, your account saves it, and your other open devices pick it up. A dot shows whether the prompter has your latest version. On a phone, Edit puts the remote aside while you type, with Save & sync and Remote in a bar at the top.

Touchpad mode. On a phone, press Touchpad mode for a full-screen pad with every direction written on its edge: tap anywhere to play or pause, swipe up for faster and down for slower (keep swiping for bigger changes), and swipe right for the next paragraph and left for the previous one. Press Done to get the full remote back.

On a computer, the remote also takes the keyboard while it's open: Space plays and pauses, ↑ ↓ change the speed, ← → and Page Up Page Down move between paragraphs, and Home goes back to the top. So a presentation clicker or foot pedal connected to your computer drives the phone.

Keep EasyPrompter open and on screen on the device that shows the prompter: phones pause pages in the background. Both screens stay awake while they're connected. Browsers only allow full screen after a tap on the device itself, so on an iPhone use the home-screen app, which is always full screen.

When someone else will read your script on camera, send them a practice link before the shoot. More on the practice links page. They open it on any phone, tablet or computer, with no account and nothing to install, and rehearse on a simple prompter set up like yours. Try the demo practice link to see what they see.

  1. Open the script and press Share for practice (next to Remote control).
  2. Under Prompter screen at the shoot, pick the device the prompter will run on (iPhone, Android phone, iPad, Android tablet, laptop or monitor) and press the portrait or landscape button. It starts on iPhone, landscape.
  3. Press Create practice link. The link is copied, ready to paste into an email or a message, and appears highlighted at the top of Your practice links.

Why the screen matters. The words that fit on a line depend on the screen. The practice page lays the script out at the exact size of the shoot screen and scales it to fit the reader's own screen, so the line breaks match what they'll read on the day. If the shoot screen is much bigger than theirs, the preview is smaller and the page suggests turning the phone sideways or using a computer.

What your reader can do. Play and pause (or tap the text), go back to the start, turn on Loop, and use the − and + buttons for speed and text size. Edit text lets them change the wording, and Restore the original text brings yours back. Everything they change is saved to the link straight away, so when they open it again on the day it's just as they left it, on any device.

Back in your script. A link follows the script you made it from. The words the reader changes come into that script, and their speed, text size and loop become your prompter's settings when you open it. When you edit the script, they see your new words. Share for practice shows the open script's link first: Copy link sends it again, and Create another link makes a new one, for another person or another screen. Your list shows each reader's speed, text size, loop and whether they edited the text. Turn off deletes a link for good: it then says it was turned off.

Anyone who has the link can open it and change the reader's copy, so send it only to the person who needs it.

Installing EasyPrompter as an app (Pro)

You can add EasyPrompter to your home screen, dock or app list so it opens like an app, full screen, without the browser's address bar and tabs. On a computer it gets its own window. Installing is part of Pro: sign in to your Pro account first, and the install options appear.

Android

  1. Open EasyPrompter in Chrome and sign in to your Pro account.
  2. Tap Install app on the "Install EasyPrompter" card or banner.
  3. If you don't see it, open Chrome's menu (three dots) and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. Open EasyPrompter from your home screen. It runs full screen, with no browser bars.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open EasyPrompter in Safari (or Chrome) and sign in to your Pro account.
  2. Tap the Share button. In Safari it's in the bottom bar; in Chrome it's in the address bar.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  4. Open EasyPrompter from your home screen to run it full screen.

This matters most on iPhone: in a normal browser tab, iPhone browsers keep the address bar visible, so the home-screen app is the only way to get the prompter truly full screen.

Desktop Chrome and Edge

  1. Open EasyPrompter in Chrome or Microsoft Edge and sign in to your Pro account.
  2. Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or the Install app button inside EasyPrompter.
  3. Confirm. EasyPrompter opens in its own window and appears with your other apps.

To uninstall, remove it like any other app. On Android, iPhone and iPad, long-press the EasyPrompter icon and choose the remove or delete option. In desktop Chrome or Edge, open EasyPrompter's window, open its menu and choose to uninstall. Uninstalling doesn't touch the scripts saved in your account; sign in again anywhere to get them back.

Accounts and syncing (Pro)

You need an account only for Pro. The prompter itself, with every setting, works the same without one. Signing in on its own doesn't add anything: saving, syncing and the other Pro features come with the subscription.

  1. Tap Sign in at the top right of the editor.
  2. Choose Continue with Google, or use your email and a password. The first time, press Create an account, type your email and choose a password of at least 8 characters.
  3. If you created an account with a password, open the email we send and press the link to confirm your address, then go back to EasyPrompter and press I've confirmed it. You need a confirmed address before going Pro.

Forgot your password? Type your email, press Forgot password? and follow the link in the email to choose a new one. If you signed up with Google, keep using Continue with Google. If you'd rather not use a password at all, type your email and choose Email me a sign-in link instead: open the link on the same device and you're signed in.

Once you're signed in with Pro:

To sign out, tap your picture or initial at the top right to open Your account, then press Sign out. EasyPrompter removes your scripts from that device, but they stay safe in your account. If any change hasn't reached your account yet, it warns you before signing out.

EasyPrompter Pro

Pro saves your scripts to your account and syncs them across your devices, lets you keep as many as you like, and adds remote control from another device, practice links, recording yourself while you read, the formatting toolbar, the AI script writer, the installable app and priority support. The teleprompter itself is the same on every plan.

Troubleshooting

The screen goes dark or the phone locks while I read

EasyPrompter asks the browser to keep the screen on while the prompter is open, but not every browser supports it, and battery saver modes can override it. Turn off low power or battery saver mode, update your browser, and if needed raise the auto-lock or screen timeout in your device settings while you record.

The text scrolls too fast or too slow

Use the turtle and rabbit buttons in the control bar, or ↑ and ↓ on a keyboard, to change speed by 10 words per minute while you read. For finer control, use the Scroll speed slider in the settings. Font size doesn't change the reading pace, because speed is measured in words, not pixels. If it still feels wrong, read a paragraph aloud at your natural pace and adjust until the text keeps up with you.

The text is mirrored and I can't read it

Mirror left/right is only for beam-splitter glass. If you're reading straight off the screen, press M or tap Mirror in the quick menu to turn it off. If the text is upside down, turn off Flip upside down. Both settings are remembered, so check them if the text looked fine last time.

My remote or clicker does nothing

  • Make sure the prompter (or Preview) is open; in the editor, keys type into your script.
  • Tap the EasyPrompter screen once so the page has focus, especially after using another app or window.
  • Close the settings panel; shortcuts pause while it's open.
  • Check the remote is paired and connected in your Bluetooth settings, and that its battery isn't flat.
  • Check which keys it sends. EasyPrompter responds to the keys in the shortcut table; media and volume buttons don't control it.

My other device doesn't show up in Remote control

Remote control is part of Pro. The quickest fix is often the QR code: scan it with the phone you want as the remote, no sign-in needed. For the device list, check that EasyPrompter is open and on screen on the other device, and that both devices are signed in to the same Pro account: devices signed in to another account never show up. On a phone, unlock it and bring EasyPrompter to the front, since phones pause pages in the background. If the list still doesn't show it, reload EasyPrompter on both devices.

The address bar stays visible on iPhone

iPhone browsers don't allow web pages to go fully full screen in a normal tab. With Pro, sign in, then use Share → Add to Home Screen and open EasyPrompter from your home screen. See installing on iPhone and iPad.

Pasting doesn't work

Tap inside the text box first so it has the cursor, then long-press (or right-click) and choose Paste, or press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). If the text arrives without its formatting, that's on purpose for fonts and sizes; bold, italic and lists are kept with Pro.

I can't find the install button

Installing is part of Pro, so sign in to your Pro account first. On Android and desktop, use Chrome or Edge: other browsers may not offer installing. If you closed the install card, use the browser's menu (Install app or Add to Home screen) or the install icon in the address bar instead. On iPhone and iPad there's no install button; use Share → Add to Home Screen. If EasyPrompter is already installed, the browser won't offer it again.

My scripts are missing on another device

Scripts are saved and synced only with Pro. Sign in on both devices with the same account: the same Google account, or the same email address. Scripts written in the free teleprompter, or while you were signed out, weren't saved. If you've just made a change, give it a moment and reopen EasyPrompter on the other device.

Write with AI asks me to upgrade

The AI script writer is part of Pro, so on the free plan the button shows the Pro options. If you've already paid, check you're signed in with the same account you upgraded. Right after checkout, Pro can take a few seconds to switch on; if it still isn't active after a minute, reload the page.

Wait a minute, then check your spam, junk or promotions folder. The emails come from noreply@cueprompt-app.firebaseapp.com. Make sure you typed the address correctly, and ask for a new email if needed (Send the link again in Your account, or Forgot password?): each link works once and expires. For a sign-in link, open it on the same device and browser where you asked for it. If you open it elsewhere, EasyPrompter asks you to type your email address again to finish.

"New version available · Tap to update"

EasyPrompter checks for updates, and installs them quietly when you're not in the middle of something. If a new version arrives while you're prompting, typing or have unsaved text, it shows this pill instead of interrupting you. Tap it when you're ready to reload into the new version; leaving the prompter also picks it up. If you're using the free teleprompter, copy your text first, because a reload clears your unsaved script.

Frequently asked questions

Is EasyPrompter free to use?

Yes. The full teleprompter is free, with every setting, mirroring, eye contact and the camera, keyboard and Bluetooth remotes, and Preview. It holds one script at a time and doesn't save it. Pro adds saved and synced scripts, as many scripts as you like, recording yourself while you read, remote control from another device, practice links, the formatting toolbar, the AI script writer, the installable app and priority support.

Do I need an account to use the teleprompter?

No. You can open EasyPrompter and start prompting straight away. Without an account your script isn't saved when you close the page. You need an account only for Pro, which saves your scripts and syncs them to your other devices.

Can I use EasyPrompter with a beam-splitter teleprompter rig?

Yes. Lay your phone or tablet under the glass and turn on Mirror left/right so the reflection reads normally. Turn on Flip upside down as well if your rig needs it.

Which presentation clickers work with EasyPrompter?

Most Bluetooth clickers and remotes that act as a keyboard work. They usually send Page Up and Page Down or the arrow keys, which move to the previous or next paragraph. Space, Enter or K play and pause.

Does EasyPrompter scroll by voice or record video?

It doesn't scroll by voice: it scrolls at a steady speed you set in words per minute, and you control it by touch, keyboard or remote. It does record video, with Pro: press Start camera, then the red Record button, and the recording and the scrolling start together. The script stays out of the video, and the video stays on your device. See eye contact, camera and recording.
