The best teleprompters for your camera

For your phone

Ulanzi RT02

A light, sturdy teleprompter: your phone shows the script under the glass. Film with a camera, with a second phone, or with your laptop's webcam.

What it does

• Reads clearly. HD beam-splitter glass, 19 × 12 cm, with an anti-fingerprint coating and a folding hood that keeps out stray light.
• Fits your camera. Five adapter rings (58, 67, 72, 77 and 82 mm) seal the lens to the hood. Lenses from about 24 mm film without showing the hood.
• Works with your phone as the camera. The quick-release holder takes phones 55 to 80 mm wide.
• Grows with your kit. Three cold shoes for a microphone or an LED light, and a 1/4" thread for any tripod.
• Hands-free. Scroll and pause from the Bluetooth remote.

For a tablet and a camera

NEEWER Basics X12B

A 12-inch teleprompter for your camera, with your tablet as the prompter. It unfolds ready to use, and the text stays readable from 3 metres away.

What it does

• Big, clear text. 12-inch coated beam-splitter glass lets 75% of the light through to the lens and reflects your script sharply, readable up to 3 m away.
• No assembly. Take it out of the case, screw it onto a tripod and unfold it.
• Keeps the lens centred. The camera sits on its own aluminium bracket, not on the lens: it slides 22 and 18 cm wide and rises 7 cm. Use lenses from 28 mm.
• Room for a tablet. Holds phones and tablets up to 25 × 22 cm: iPad, iPad Air or 11-inch iPad Pro.
• Remote included. A Bluetooth remote to play, pause, change speed and turn pages.

With its own screen

Elgato Prompter

No phone or tablet needed: the Prompter has its own screen, which your Mac or PC uses as a second display. Open EasyPrompter in a browser window on it, or put your notes, a chat or a video call there.

Why choose it

• One cable. It plugs into your computer over USB-C and shows up as a 9-inch display (Windows 11 or macOS 13.3 and later).
• More than a script. Drag any window onto it: speaker notes, a live chat, or the person you're talking to on a call, so you look at them through the lens.
• Webcam or camera. Mounts in front of a webcam on a desk arm, or on a camera tripod with 9 lens rings from 49 to 82 mm.
• For your desk. Ideal for calls, webinars, courses and streams recorded at the computer.

It needs a computer to run. If you film away from your desk, the RT02 or the X12B with a phone or tablet is simpler.
