Remote control Pro

Teleprompter remote control from your phone

Scan a QR code and any phone becomes the remote for your teleprompter. Play, pause, change speed and jump to any paragraph from behind the camera, while the person in front of the lens just talks. No app and no sign-in on the phone.

Part of EasyPrompter Pro, from €5.75/month billed yearly. Bluetooth remotes and clickers work for free.

00:10 How it works

Connected in ten seconds, with a QR code

  1. Open Remote control on the prompter screen

On the phone, tablet or computer you'll read from, signed in with Pro, press Remote control. A QR code appears.

  2. Scan it with any phone

Point the phone's camera at the code. The remote opens in its browser straight away: no app, no account, no pairing menus.

  3. Press Start and step back

Start the prompter from the phone and run the take from behind the camera. The prompter screen stays awake while it's connected.

Two setups

Phone under the lens, or laptop by the webcam

The prompter runs on whichever screen sits by the camera. The remote is whatever is in your hand: a computer, a second phone, or any phone that scanned the code.

00:20 Two ways to connect

Any phone on set, or your own devices

Scan the QR code: any phone

For the assistant, the director, or the client's own phone. Nobody signs in on it. The code works for up to 12 hours on that screen, survives a reload, and stops working the moment you press New code or disconnect the phone.

Your signed-in devices

Every device signed in to your Pro account shows up in the list, ready to control. Drive the phone under the lens from your laptop, or the laptop by the webcam from your phone. A signed-in remote can also edit the script and send it to the prompter.

00:30 From the remote

The same controls as the prompter, in your hand

The remote uses the prompter's own toolbar, so there's nothing new to learn.

Start, pause, restart

Start the prompter on the other screen, with its 3-2-1 countdown. Pause, go back to the top, or close it when the take is done.

Jump to any paragraph

Go to the previous or next paragraph, or tap any paragraph in the list. A retake starts where it should, not at the top.

Speed and text size

Faster or slower in steps of 10 words per minute while it scrolls, and bigger or smaller text, with the live values on screen.

Mirror, flip and more

The quick settings chips: mirror, flip, reading line, countdown, centered text and caps. Plus loop, and the next or previous script.

Fix a line with Save & sync

Spot a typo mid-shoot? Edit the script on a signed-in remote and press Save & sync. The prompter swaps in the new words and keeps its place.

Keyboard, clicker, foot pedal

On a computer remote, Space plays and pauses, the arrows change speed and jump paragraphs. A presentation clicker or foot pedal works too.

00:40 Touchpad mode

The whole phone screen is the remote

When you're behind the camera you can't look for buttons. In touchpad mode, the phone's whole screen is one big control, and each direction is written on the edge it points to.

  • Tap anywhere to play or pause
  • Swipe up for faster, in green. Keep swiping for bigger changes
  • Swipe down for slower, in blue
  • Swipe right for the next paragraph, left for the previous one
  • The phone buzzes and shows the new speed with each step

Hardware remotes are free

No Pro needed to steer the prompter with something in your hand. Connect a keyboard, a Bluetooth remote, a presentation clicker or a foot pedal to the device that shows the prompter:

  • Space or Enter: play and pause
  • Up and down arrows: speed
  • Left and right, Page Up and Page Down: previous and next paragraph
  • M: mirror, Esc: back to the script

Teleprompter remote questions

Can I control a teleprompter from my phone?

Yes. Open Remote control on the screen you'll read from and scan the QR code with any phone. The phone becomes the remote straight away, in its browser: play, pause, speed, text size, paragraphs and more. Remote control is part of EasyPrompter Pro.

Does the phone need the app or an account?

No. A phone that scans the QR code opens the remote in its browser, with no app to install and no sign-in. Only the screen that shows the prompter needs to be signed in with Pro.

Can the remote phone see my scripts?

No. A QR remote can steer the prompter and see the paragraphs of the script on screen, so you can jump to them. It can't open your other scripts, change your account or send text to the prompter.

How long does a QR code work?

Up to 12 hours on that screen, and it keeps working if you reload the page there, so the phone reconnects by itself. Press New code, or disconnect the phone, and the old code stops working straight away.

Can I use a Bluetooth remote or a presentation clicker instead?

Yes, and that part is free. Keyboards, Bluetooth remotes, presentation clickers and foot pedals connected to the prompter device work in the free teleprompter: Space plays and pauses, the arrows change speed and jump between paragraphs.

Can I fix the script while the prompter is running?

Yes, from a signed-in remote. Edit the script on your phone or computer and press Save & sync: the prompter shows the new words and keeps its place in the script.

Does it work over the internet or only on the same Wi-Fi?

Both devices just need an internet connection. They don't have to be on the same network.

Put the prompter in your pocket

Open EasyPrompter on the screen you'll read from, press Remote control and scan the code.
